Guided tour

A visita guidata is a visit led by a licensed guide. In Rome the licence matters: only authorised guides may lead groups inside the Vatican Museums and the Colosseum, and some restricted areas open only with one.

Example

The Passetto di Borgo and the Colosseum underground are the two best-known places where the guided format is the only format, not an upgrade.
