Oculus
The oculus is the open circle at the top of the Pantheon's dome, the building's only source of light. Rain falls through it onto a floor with drains, and the light moves across the interior through the day.
Example
The dome measures 43.30 metres across and the same in height, so the oculus is the centre of a sphere the building could contain, which is the fact worth checking with your own eyes.
