Neoclassicism

Neoclassicism is the late eighteenth-century return to Greek and Roman models, born in Rome around the antiquities trade and Winckelmann's writing. Canova is its sculptor.

Example

The Vatican's Pio Clementino Museum was laid out in the Neoclassical decades, so its halls display ancient sculpture the way the movement wanted it seen.
