Affresco
Affresco is painting on wet plaster, so that the pigment binds into the wall as it dries. It is the technique of the Sistine ceiling, the Raphael Rooms and the halls of Castel Sant'Angelo.
Example
Because a fresco is part of the wall, it cannot travel or be lent, which is why the Raphael Rooms can only be seen in the Vatican.
